Day 1: Athens – Nafplion
Depart for the Corinth Canal where we’ll make a short stop, and then continue on to visit the archaeological site of Mycenae and the tomb of Agamemnon. Proceed to Nafplion. The afternoon is free to visit the Venetian fortress of Palamidi which crowns the city, or alternatively, go swimming. You may also take an optional visit to the National Gallery, Nafplion Gallery. The annex of the National Gallery in Nafplion is housed in a historical building and has a permanent collection of works inspired by the Greek War of Independence. Enjoy an overnight stay in Nafplion.
Day 2: Nafplion – Athens
The morning is free to walk to the old city with its neoclassic houses and picturesque streets. Furthermore you can visit Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation, "V. Papantoniou” Museum which was founded in 1974, and in 1981 received the European Museum of the Year Award. The 1st and 2nd floor now house the new permanent exhibition "Urban Greece" mainly focusing on the town of Nafplion and its surrounding areas during the 19th and 20th Centuries.
Around noon we will depart for Epidaurus to visit the ancient theatre and in the afternoon we make our return journey to Athens.
